Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Service
The Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Service of IRADAH plays a vital role in restoring mobility, reducing physical limitations, and improving the overall quality of life for persons with disabilities in rural Chakwal. During IRADAH’s initial work with the community, it became evident that there were no physiotherapy facilities available for individuals—especially children—living with physical disabilities. For many, this meant a life of reduced mobility, dependency, and isolation, simply because the nearest specialized facility was far beyond their reach.
To bridge this gap, IRADAH established a dedicated Physiotherapy Center in Tehsil Kalar Kahar, an area with a high concentration of persons with disabilities. The center is strategically located to serve remote rural villages where access to medical and rehabilitation services is extremely limited. Today, the facility delivers over 250 individual physiotherapy sessions each month, directly benefiting hundreds of individuals who would otherwise have little to no access to such care.
The center is staffed by a part-time qualified physiotherapist and a full-time physio-technician, ensuring that patients receive both professional expertise and consistent day-to-day support. Every client undergoes an initial check-up to assess their needs, followed by targeted exercise programs aimed at improving mobility, strength, and function. These services are tailored not only to the physical condition of the patient but also to their personal living environment and daily activities.
Rehabilitation at the center goes beyond physical treatment. IRADAH understands that disability affects the whole family, and so counselling sessions are held both with persons with disabilities and with their family members or caregivers. These sessions focus on understanding the condition, adapting the home environment, and fostering a supportive atmosphere that promotes independence rather than dependency.
Where needed, patients are referred to other service providers for specialized treatments or complementary services. The center also facilitates access to small crutches, walkers, and other assistive devices, helping individuals move more freely and safely. Additionally, IRADAH assists persons with disabilities in obtaining official disability certificates, enabling them to benefit from government welfare schemes and entitlements.
Recognizing that rehabilitation is not just about health but also about long-term independence, the Physiotherapy Center guides clients towards vocational training opportunities and educational institutions suited to their abilities and aspirations. This holistic approach ensures that physical recovery is paired with opportunities for personal growth and economic participation.
Affordability is never a barrier at IRADAH. A minimal fee is charged to those who can afford it, while the majority—often from extremely poor families—receive services completely free of charge. This inclusive policy ensures that no person is denied rehabilitation due to financial constraints.
Through its Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Service, IRADAH is transforming lives—helping individuals regain movement, rebuild confidence, and reintegrate into the community with dignity and purpose.
