Zaina Alabandi is a freshman sponsored by KGSP at Columbia University studying biology. She is also a member of the MiSK Fellowship whose aim is to provide Saudi youth with opportunities to guide their country towards a bright future. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree, she hopes to attend med school and graduate with a doctor of medicine. She is interested in specializing in medical genetics, neurology, or psychiatry. She was awarded the second place prize in Ibdaa 2018 with her research on the homing process of blood stem cells, and went on to participate in Intel ISEF 2019. Inspired by that experience, Zaina’s ultimate goal is to fill the gaps in human knowledge and make a significant difference in people’s lives in any way she can.
